How Does A Search Engine Works to Show Better Results? Crawling, Indexing, Ranking

If you are looking to find something on the Internet or on the worldwide web(www) you have to do something on any search engine. 

Either you can find the information with a web address or a URL of a website, but if you don’t have a web address, then you should search that information by typing any query on the search engine.

Most of the people mainly those who belong to non-technical background don’t know how a search engine performed and provide search results. 

Search engine manages and organizes the online contents in order to provide the most relevant search results as per the searched queries.

To deliver better search results there are several activities performed by a search engine.

1.    Crawling: This process is done by using a program known as “Web Crawler”or “Spider” or “Bot”. A web crawler scan and collect all the details about search query, like – text, images, videos, etc., on a website page and analyzes it. 

   For all the content relevant to a search query, each time a web crawler visits a webpage scan and collect all the details and follow the same for all the web page it found.

 

2.    Indexing: Firstly it manages and organizes all the content found in the crawling process. The process of adding all the most relevant web pages into search results as per the searched query.

 

3.    Results: After Crawling and Indexing search engine shows the most relevant results and the all the results are ordered by as per most to least relevancy.
